But hey’re so strange, they look as if they’re waiting for something, or something is going to break out of them…is there a word to describe an everyday thing which is spooky?
There should be. It’s probably in The Book of Liff somewhere. I know what they are but I’m not going to tell you – that would spoil it.
Hmmm, I must puzzle on this!

This inspired my following post on the artist Jeffrey Smart. Could be one of his paintings!
Thanks for the reblog, Catherine! I’d not heard of Jeffrey Smart before so I had a GoogleWiki. One line jumped out, that he “paints a picture because he likes the shape.” I take pictures because I like the shape (plus colour, texture, and so on), and it’s not the usual picturesque suspects I’m interested in. I like the things other people pass by without a second glance. Thanks for pointing me to his work.
Coo!
Glad you like it. Wasn’t sure whether to keep this post and left it up to viewer response. You saved its life.
